Icon Tutorial #5

Vintage Light

1. Open up an icon-sized image or use mine if you wish.
   
   
   
   
2. Create a new layer (Layer->New Layer or Ctrl+Shift+N) and fill this layer in #081031. Set it to the "Exclusion" blend mode.
3. Duplicate your image layer (Layer->Duplicate Layer) and set it to the "Soft Light" blend mode ontop of all layers.
4. Press Crtl+E twice to merge all layers. We are now going to use Selective Coloring (Image->Adjustments->Selective Color) on the image. If you would like to avoid the following, an action (learn how to download, install and use here) can be downloaded by click by clicking here.
   
   Reds:
   Black: +100%
   Cyan: -100%
   Magenta: -100%
   Yellow: +100%
   
   Yellows:
   Cyan: -12%
   Magenta: -27%
   Yellow: +12%
   Black: +45%
   
   Blues:
   Black: +100%
   Cyan: +100%
   Magenta: +100%
   Yellow: -100%
   
   Whites:
   Black: -25%
   
   Neutrals:
   Cyan: -4%
   Magenta: -5%
   Yellow: -5%
   Black: -6%
   
   Blacks:
   Black: +25%
   
   
5. Change image Curves (Image->Adjustments->Curves) so the Input is 110 and the Output is 65.
6. Set this texture ontop of all layers on the "Screen" blend mode.
   
   
   
   
7. Paste this border on the "Multiply" blend mode atop all layers.
